Think Ahead

Think Ahead

It is easier to resist temptation if you have thought through your convictions well before the temptation arises.

What would a smile, a nod of the head, an act of courtesy, a helping hand, and a special gesture of friendliness do for all the lonely people we meet?

Brings to mind, “HOPE”.

Be Bold Step Forward

Be Bold Step Forward

As we go deeper in God, He enlarges our capacity for understanding and places before us a wide-open door.  The decision to take further steps forward is our decision.  Some step back for they do not believe that there is anything worth-while inside for them.  Some stand still because they are too frightened to enter and only capture glimpses of holiness. They believe that they have fallen so short that they are not worthy of having an intimate relationship with God.  Other’s step forward believing that they will be forgiving upon repentance.

Can you not hear Him calling? “I have created you and formed you.  Fear not for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name, you are mine.”

How can we not Love a God that can’t remember what He has promised to forget?  Step forward!

Egg On

Egg On

As each day ticks by most of us are often presented with situations where there is someone we can provide a word of encouragement too.  But our inclination, for the most part, is to criticize instead of help.

It may be essential at times to point out someone’s shortcomings, but before we have the right to do this, we must build and earn that person’s trust through encouragement.

Are you prepared to encourage those with whom you come in contact today?

No Backing Down

No Backing Down

You have to face up to adversity, difficulty, hardship, complexity, danger, harsh times, misfortune, bad luck and peril.

You must deal with them head on and see them for what they really are, an opportunity to grow up and mature.

Two-Sided Coin

Two-Sided Coin

How we desire and crave for fair treatment from those around us, but do we give it?  We hate those who base their judgments and conclusions on appearance, image, bogus evidence, hearsay, rumors, or gossip but are we quick to judge others using those standards?

Only as real genuineness governs our hearts can we learn to be as fair in our treatment of others as we expect others to be toward us.

An Ax To Grind

An Ax To Grind

Trying to accomplish anything without the necessary skillfulness or instruments is like attempting to chop down a tree with a blunt ax.  If your tool is dull, you would sharpen it in order to do a better job.  Similarly, if you lack essential skills, you should sharpen them through education, training, practice and experience.  In each situation, sharpening the ax means recognizing where a problem exists, acquiring or honing the skills or tools to do the job better, and then going out and doing it.

Find the areas of your life where your “ax” is dull and sharpen your skills so you can be more effective in all your work and in reaching your goals. This is the place where ordinary becomes extraordinary.

Time For Refreshment

Time For Refreshment

Sometimes the familiarity that comes with marriage causes us to forget the over-whelming feelings of love and refreshment we shared at the beginning. The excitement of just having each other’s company, holding hands, whispering loving words, working to make intimate moments special.

Many marriages could use a course in “refreshing the heart.”  Do you refresh your spouse, or are you a burden of criticisms, unhappiness, and problems?  Partners in marriage should continually work at refreshing each other by an encouraging word, actively listening (even on a trivial matter), an unexpected present, a change from the routine, a surprise call or note, or even by withholding a discussion of some problem until the proper time.

Your spouse needs you to be a haven of refreshment, because the rest of the world usually isn’t.

Too Much Of A Good Or Bad Thing

Too Much Of A Good Or Bad Thing

Some people are lethargic while others are workaholics.  The lazy person, seeing the futility of scurrying about for success crosses his arms and folds his hands which end up hurting both himself and those who depend on him.

The workaholic is driven by envy, jealousy, greed, and a constant desire to move ahead of everyone else. Both extremes are imprudent and irresponsible. The antidote for both is to work smarter not harder and with moderation.

Take time to enjoy the gift of life and what it has to offer.

Reflections

Reflections

In what ways are we made in God’s image?  God obviously did not create us exactly like himself, especially in a physical sense.  Instead, we are reflections of God’s glory, for He created us for His Glory.  God is sinless, eternal, and unlimited.

Although we are given the potential to be sinless and eternal, we are also given the choice to fall short (freewill in our decision).

We will never be totally like God because He is our supreme creator.  Our best hope is to reflect his character in our love, tolerance, forgiveness, kindness, patience, compassion, and faithfulness.
