Trying to accomplish anything without the necessary skillfulness or instruments is like attempting to chop down a tree with a blunt ax. If your tool is dull, you would sharpen it in order to do a better job. Similarly, if you lack essential skills, you should sharpen them through education, training, practice and experience. In each situation, sharpening the ax means recognizing where a problem exists, acquiring or honing the skills or tools to do the job better, and then going out and doing it.
Find the areas of your life where your “ax” is dull and sharpen your skills so you can be more effective in all your work and in reaching your goals. This is the place where ordinary becomes extraordinary.
